| WEIRD PAUL
/ Paul Petroskey DISCOGRAPHY |
| |
The
following is a list of all
releases
that Paul Petroskey has appeared
on or played on. It includes
availabiliy (never released
tapes are included because
most of them were borrowed
and copied by people at some
point, thus making them more
or less "available"), year
of release and other notes.
|
| |
WEIRD
PAUL IN 2-D (1984) and
YOU CAN'T STOP SATIRE (1985)
(never
released)
Paul's first two recordings (about a half hour each) were re-recorded later
in 1985 as DRUNK DIVER DOWN.
|
| |
DRUNK
DIVER DOWN (1985)
(never released)
Paul's first full length (45 mins) cassette is all rerecorded
versions of the songs on his first two never released EPs. 9 of the 13 songs
are about Paul's 8th grade teachers, Mr. Lebbeda and Mr. Deal. All the songs
are sang over top of popular hits of the day, such as "Beat it, Mr. Lebbeda",
a'la Weird Al's parodies.
|
| |
BEATEN
WITH THE UGLY STICK (1986)
(never released)
4 of the
12 songs are Paul "playing" the
guitar - the other 8 are again,
Paul singing over top of other
songs with new lyrics - "Crazy
Train" as "Gravy Train", etc. "I'm
a Guitar" and "I Went Over My Friend's
House" from this tape were later
re-recorded and released on other
cassettes. The cover features Paul
being hit with a big stick by his
dad.
|
| |
IN
CASE OF FIRE THROW THIS IN
(1986)
(never released)
This was recorded a year
earlier than the "legal one" and features totally
different songs, but the same cover. 5 of the 19
songs are "sing over the original" parodies. Five
of the songs on this tape also appear on "the legal
one", others were re-recorded for other future
tapes.
|
| |
SEEKING THE DEATH PENALTY
(1986)
(never released)
5 of the 19 are again
parodies (including the later released "Toilet
Seat" based on John Mellencamp's "Rumble Seat". "Simulated
Wood" (the first song Paul wrote with power chords)
appears in a rough form. Most of the other songs
have never been released. The cover is a photograph
of an ace of spades playing card.
|
| |
HALF LIVE PETROSKEY (1987)
(never released)
This
tape has 14 live songs (a
couple of which can probably
be seen on the WHO'S THAT
IDIOT? video release), from
concerts given in Paul's
house. The other 6 songs
are studio tracks and include "My
Father's Toe". Cover is a
photo of Paul lying on the
couch holding props from
the covers of his past tapes.
|
| |
THE WORLD ACCORDING TO
PETROSKEY (1987/1989) (never
released) Paul's
last home recording before
he began
releasing his tapes for sale.
It starts out with the 19 minute "Concept
Track" which was later released
in an edition of 10 copies.
Of the 15 other songs, a few
again are parodies and some
are sung with Paul playing
the music. "X-Mark", "Weed
Killer" and other songs were
later on other tapes. The original
tape was borrowed in 1987 by
a guy named Al Richardson who
never returned it. "The Concept
Track" had been copied prior
to this loss, but the rest
of the tape was lost. These
songs were re-done in 1989
for the tape that now exists
in Paul's archives. |
| |
